Our Policies

Welcome to the American Council of Piano Performers (ACPP). Our mission is to support, promote, and uphold the highest standards of piano performance and education across the United States. To ensure that our organization operates with integrity, transparency, and respect for all participants, we have established the following policies:

1. Membership Policies

  • Eligibility: Membership is open to pianists, educators, institutions, and organizations dedicated to piano performance and education. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to the values and mission of ACPP.
  • Membership Fees: Annual fees are required to maintain active membership status. Members will be notified in advance of any changes to fee structures.
  • Code of Conduct: All members are expected to adhere to ACPP’s Code of Conduct, which promotes professionalism, ethical behavior, and respectful interactions within the community.

2. Performance Standards

  • Repertoire Requirements: Performers are encouraged to present repertoire that reflects a wide range of styles, including classical, contemporary, and experimental works. Selections should be appropriate to the performance context and audience.
  • Adjudication: Performance assessments and competitions will be conducted by qualified judges. Feedback will be provided with the aim of fostering growth and improvement.
  • Performance Attire: Performers should maintain a professional appearance appropriate for formal settings. Attire should be modest, neat, and suitable for the occasion.

3. Competition and Event Policies

  • Eligibility: Competitions are open to members in good standing. Specific age and experience categories may apply, depending on the event.
  • Application Process: Applications must be submitted by the designated deadlines. Late submissions will not be considered.
  • Adjudication and Appeals: All decisions by the judging panel are final. Appeals will be considered only if procedural errors are identified.

4. Privacy and Data Protection

  • Data Collection: ACPP collects personal information for the purposes of membership management, event registration, and communication. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring data security.
  • Data Usage: Personal information will not be shared with third parties without explicit consent, except as required by law.

5. Ethical Guidelines

  • Integrity: Members are expected to maintain the highest standards of integrity in all activities, including performances, competitions, and interactions with peers.
  • Professional Conduct: Members should act professionally in all dealings, demonstrating respect, courtesy, and support for colleagues, students, and audiences.

6. Conflict Resolution

  • Dispute Mediation: In the event of a dispute between members or with the organization, ACPP offers mediation services to facilitate a fair and amicable resolution.
  • Complaint Procedure: Complaints should be submitted in writing to the ACPP office. All complaints will be reviewed in a confidential manner, and appropriate action will be taken.
